In Pursuance of our Vision - To ensure that literacy isn’t any longer a sort of an expensive and unaffordable luxury for the less privileged, the Aunty Jumoke Foundation for Education and Development (AJFED) donated Educational materials and Resources to Oje Reliance School on the 10th of June, 2017.
Oje Reliance school is a mixed school which is situated in the densely populated city of Avbiosi-Old in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State. Avbiosi-Old is a rural settlement with a population of about 48 thousand inhabitants (unofficial figure). The dominant occupation of inhabitants in the locality is Farming, Trading and Hunting.
The presentation of the Educational Materials which was done by a member of the Foundation - Mr Ekeinde Ikhide Mark, was like every other, a perfect picture of the fulfillment of purpose as students and Pupils of the school were so excited to receive the resource materials which they believe would help them realize their full potentials.
Receiving the Educational Materials on behalf of the school was the Head of the School - Mr A. O Akhigbe, who was full of praise for the Aunty Jumoke Foundation for Education and Development (AJFED) for remembering Oje Reliance school and for considering the school deserving of the donation.
Speaking with our member, Mr Akhigbe said “My heart is gladdened to know that there truly exist Education Foundations as the AJFED who are, at no cost willing to complement the efforts of the government to ensure that literacy is something that even the less privileged can acquire”.
He further thanked the AJFED for reaching out to the school in particular, and to the good people of Avbiosi-old in general with the donation. The donation has without doubt taken the foundation another step closer to attaining our vision of ensuring that literacy is attainable by the less privileged. For Us at AJFED, This donation is another successful mission which keeps us on the pathway to the fulfillment of purpose.
However, We believe there’s still a lot More that needs to be done to actualize our Vision.
If You want to be a part of What We do, and You’ve been wondering How you can Help or Get Involved, Kindly see the steps below:
On the 11th April, 2019, The Aunty Jumoke Foundation for Education and Development made a donation of school textbooks, notebooks, bell, sharpeners, pencils and erasers to the Malaysia IDP camp children.
This donation is for the commencement of a make shift school.
The Malaysian Garden IDP Camp is one of the 19 IDP camps in Abuja Municipal Area Council with a population of about 150 school age children always loitering about for lack of proper infrastructure and literacy materials to keep them busy in the makeshift classroom provided for them.
There are no teachers nor Head teacher.
The available makeshift classroom is supposed to cater for Nursery and Primary school age children ages 3 to 18.
There is no head teacher office nor staffroom.
No enough classrooms, No staff room, No Library, No computer room, No toilet, few broken tables and chairs and No teaching or learning materials at all.
A big Thank you to the following wonderful people who supported this project:
A Special Thank You to Amara Chidinma Ezediniru who brought the educational plight of the IDP to lime light. We wish that everyone like her would let their passion make a difference.
Please note that more materials and volunteers teachers are needed. A lot more still needs to be done.
We will not let our children become indignant. They are loved. They are cared for. They should not bear the brunt of an insensitive leadership.( Amarainspires)
